Bohemian Dream Dorm Decor

Grad season is fast approaching, and in person education is reopening. Which means, time to plan those college dorm rooms! Keep in mind that you often need a slightly longer quilt to cover up those dorm-standard XL twin mattresses.

Today, I am envisioning a dreamy bohemian chic dorm room using the Nomad Crossing Quilt as the centerpiece. This quilt features a dove gray linen background, tiny woodland animals, boho feathers, and a moody color palette.

This quilt gave me all kinds of outdoorsy, hiking, sketching, traveling vibes, and so I styled this dream dorm for a nature-loving student, someone who wants to bring the outdoors in. A photography student, perhaps? Someone in the natural sciences? Or maybe they’re as yet Undeclared, but they still have a sense of style.

This quilt would look right at home under a macrame or braided wall hanging; if you aren’t allowed plant life in your residence hall, these natural fibers would make a nice substitute. A stack of velvet throw pillows would be a gorgeous contrasting texture to the natural linen fabric in the quilt. An embroidered world map and a camping lantern by the bedside express that big wanderlust energy in an understated way, and I love the way the vintage bird illustrations tie in with all those drifting feathers in the quilt. The best part is the decor is easy on the budget and portable, which are two incredibly important qualities for dorm furnishings.

Stay tuned for a couple more dream dorm styling posts. I never know where one of my quilts will end up, but I love sharing some of the homes that I imagine for them while I’m making them. The Nomad Crossing quilt is currently available in the Handmade Shop. Hit the button to see if it’s still there.
