Disco Stars Quilt Kits

Disco Stars Quilt Kits Are Here!

Disco Stars quilt in Glassy colorway with blue and silver Ruby Star Society fabrics, modern star quilt pattern by Modernly Morgan.

Almost a year ago, I shared my version of the Disco Stars quilt by Modernly Morgan when I was lucky enough to pattern test it, and honestly, that project was pure joy. Between the color play, the bold starbursts, and that pop-art shimmer, it was the kind of make that reminded me why I love quilting so much. I used a mix of cool blues, hints of lavender, and a shock of neon that made it feel like a mirrorball stitched into fabric. You can see the full post about it here.

Quiltstagram lit up when I shared it, and ever since then, people have been asking about the pattern, the fabrics, and (of course) if there’d ever be a kit.
Well, it’s time to turn up the lights and crank up the volume because Disco Stars quilt kits are finally here!

A Look Back at Disco Stars

Designed by Modernly Morgan, Disco Stars is one of those patterns that just hits all the right notes, bold, playful, and full of personality. Think pixelated stars, mod mirrorball energy, and that irresistible rhythm of repetition that keeps you grooving from the first cut to the last seam. Each block feels like its own little burst of light. It is structured yet full of movement, nostalgic yet totally modern.

When I made my version, I leaned into Ruby Star Society blenders — cool blues, pops of neon, and soft lavenders that danced together perfectly. The whole process was one big creative groove session: chain piecing, good music, and the slow satisfaction of watching those star blocks align and sparkle like a dance floor under lights.

Why Disco Stars Makes a Great Kit Quilt

This quilt is the perfect mix of approachable and striking. Built from nine-patch units with stitch-and-flip corners, it’s rhythmic, satisfying, and totally beginner-friendly while still holding the attention of experienced quilters. It is time-consuming, sure. But the end result is a stunner that is worth all the effort.

The pixelated layout gives it that mirrorball shimmer that makes the whole quilt feel alive, and once you start sewing, it’s easy to get lost in the flow of repeating shapes and glowing color. Plus, these kits take the guesswork out of the trickiest part (choosing and balancing all those fabrics) so you can dive straight into stitching your own disco masterpiece.

What’s Inside the Kits

Each kit comes packed with carefully curated Ruby Star Society fabrics, including some out-of-print favorites like Pixel and Spark. You’ll have everything you need to capture that glimmering, mirrorball effect without having to hunt down twenty different light-refracting prints on your own.

Two Colorways to Choose From:

  • Glassy: Cool mirrorball blues, silvers, and purples for that chilled-out glow.

  • Fever: Hot reds, golds, and yellows that bring the heat and light up the dance floor.

Each kit includes fat quarters, a starry dusk accent, and, of course, the Disco Stars pattern — also available separately in the shop if you’d rather curate your own palette.

When I was putting these kits together, I kept thinking about that feeling of dancing under a disco ball to an absolute groovin’ beat. Joy, un-self-conscious movement, free-wheeling, light bouncing in every direction. These quilts bring that same energy into your sewing space, turning quiet evenings at home into something that feels like a celebration. It’s all about the Joy of Staying Home (or J.O.S.H. as I like to call it, or at least, as I am trying to get used to calling it), creating pieces that make your space sparkle and turning the simple act of stitching into your own private party.

It’s impossible to feel FOMO, of Fear of Missing Out, when you’re right in the middle of the dance floor, doing the hustle with the rest of the crowd. And another antidote for FOMO is bringing the party right into your space, getting cozy with your disco stars quilt and chain-piecing nine patches in a red hot spectrum. Replacing FOMO with JOSH (…it’s still not very catchy, is it...) the Joy of Staying Home.

Below, you’ll see three mockups that show off both colorways in all their disco glory:

  • Fever – Black Gold brings the heat with fiery reds, deep magentas, and pops of golden yellow that practically glow.

  • Fever – Charcoal takes the same palette and turns the lights down just a notch, creating a moodier, late-night dance floor vibe.

  • Glassy cools things down with oceanic blues, minty greens, and silvery tones that shimmer like light on mirrored glass.

Each one captures a different kind of sparkle, from the high-energy pulse of the Fever to the smooth, chilled-out groove of Glassy. They’re the kind of projects that make your sewing machine your dance partner and your iron the DJ. Turn your sewing room into a Boogie Wonderland and stitch away the night.

You can grab your Disco Stars Quilt Kit right now in the shop, but act fast, because these are limited edition. Many of the fabrics are out of print, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Future restocks will have their own groove, but these are the original pressing — the one that started the party.
